There's always room to improve

Jan 17, 2017

Whether you’re a new professional or a veteran in the industry, there’s always room to improve. Every project, task, event or email can be tweaked to be that much better.

As public relations gurus, it’s important to take a step back and reflect on our work. By doing so, we can learn from our triumphs and mistakes. How can we improve and do better work for our clients?

  1. After an event, special project or at the end of the week, take some time to reflect on your work. What worked well? What can the team improve on? How can we further go above and beyond to please our clients and make our team members proud? By gathering feedback and taking time to evaluate your work, you can implement key learnings the next day on the job.
  2. Learn from similar organizations and do a mini-audit. How does the public perceive these organizations? What tactics and strategies do they implement to engage their audiences? How are they excelling at communicating with their audiences?
  3. Experience other cultures and different viewpoints. Whether you are traveling, reading a new book or taking a leap of faith outside of your comfort zone, there is something you’ll take away to better yourself and ultimately, your work.

These are just a few things you can do improve your skillset. How do you continue to evolve? We’d love to know your thoughts.
